Finance Graduate Programme
Start Date: Commencing September 2027
Base Location: Glasgow or Perth

Whether you're interested in understanding business performance, supporting major investment decisions, managing financial risk or helping shape business strategy, you'll develop professional expertise while contributing to the delivery of SSE's ambitious growth plans and the UK's electricity future.
What is the Role?
At SSE, we're investing billions in the infrastructure, technology and people needed to support the transition to a net zero future. Finance plays a critical role in enabling that investment, providing the insight, governance and decision-making support that helps our business succeed.
Our Finance Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who want to build a successful career in finance while working towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. Over three years, you'll combine professional study with hands-on experience, gaining exposure to a wide range of finance disciplines and business areas across SSE.
You'll Study Towards The Prestigious ICAS Chartered Accountancy Qualification While Completing Rotations Across a Range Of Finance Teams, Which May Include:
- Financial Accounting
- Management Accounting
- Internal Audit
- Treasury
- Corporate Finance
- Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
Alongside practical experience, you'll benefit from dedicated study support, mentoring, structured development opportunities and support from experienced colleagues across SSE. Following successful completion of the programme, you'll be a qualified ICAS Chartered Accountant with broad experience across a FTSE 100 business and the opportunity to progress into a permanent finance role within SSE.

What We're Looking For
You'll have a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in any degree discipline. A finance degree isn't required. We're looking for graduates with curiosity, strong analytical thinking and a willingness to learn. Whatever your academic background, we'll provide the professional training, practical experience and support needed to develop your career as a Chartered Accountant. We're looking for graduates who are excited by the opportunity to develop professional finance expertise while helping shape the future of energy. You'll likely be someone who:
- Enjoys analysing information, solving problems and using data to support sound business decisions.
- Is motivated to work towards a professional accountancy qualification while balancing study with practical work experience.
- Communicates effectively, builds positive relationships and works collaboratively with a wide range of people.
- Is curious, organised and committed to learning, continuously developing new skills and knowledge.
- Takes ownership, uses initiative and wants to make a meaningful contribution to SSE's business and future ambitions.
