Location: Reading, UK – Forbury Square

Working Hours: 40 hours per week | Full-time

Start Date: Immediate joiners preferred

Work Arrangement: 5 days onsite at our Reading office

We’re Hiring: Finance & HR Professional – UK

We’re looking for a hands-on, organised Finance & Accounts professional to join our team and take ownership of day-to-day finance, accounting, HR and administrative responsibilities.

Finance & Accounting

  • Accounting & Zoho Books: Keep the books up to date, reconcile bank accounts and prepare month-end schedules, including managing the Zoho Books processes.
  • Invoicing & Collections: Raise invoices on time, monitor outstanding balances and follow up with customers on payments and billing queries.
  • Supplier Payments: Track supplier invoices and amounts due, and prepare payment details and supporting documents for approval.
  • Payroll: Review timesheets, salary information and employee changes, and provide accurate monthly inputs to the payroll provider.
  • UK Compliance: Track deadlines and ensure information required for VAT, PAYE and other statutory requirements is provided to external accountants on time.
  • Records & Reporting: Maintain well-organised financial records and prepare basic monthly finance reports and trackers.
  • Day-to-Day Coordination: Work closely with management, employees, customers, suppliers and external accountants.

HR & Administration

  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Support employee joining and leaving processes and ensure required paperwork is completed.
  • Employee Records: Maintain accurate and confidential employee, payroll, leave and attendance records.
  • Company Records & Purchasing: Keep contracts, NDAs, statutory records and supplier information organised, while coordinating purchasing activities.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership and responsibility for their work and is comfortable working independently.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Stay on top of regular tasks, resolve routine issues and follow actions through to completion.
  • Provide visibility of cash flow, including bank balances, expected receipts and upcoming payroll, supplier and tax payments.
  • Maintain a short-term cash forecast and flag potential issues early.
  • Know when routine matters can be handled internally and when advice from UK accountants or tax advisers is required.
  • Communicate confidently with customers, suppliers, finance teams and external advisers.
  • Maintain clear records of important accounting and tax decisions and the advice received.
  • Document key processes, deadlines, contacts and outstanding matters to ensure smooth handovers.
  • Help develop monthly reporting covering P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, customer balances and key finance/compliance matters as the business grows.

👤 Candidate Profile

  • Strong accounting fundamentals with practical experience, ideally around 1–3 years.
  • Hands-on experience is more important than a specific number of years.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers, advisers and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with UK accounting, VAT and PAYE would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Zoho Books would be particularly useful.
