Job Title: Finance Intern

Location: Hybrid (Manchester/Market Drayton)
Contract: Starting July 2027, 13-month Fixed Term Contract
Hours/Shift Pattern: 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday

Who is Müller Milk & Ingredients?

Müller Milk & Ingredients (MMI) is the UK’s largest producer of branded and private label fresh milk, cream, butter, and dairy ingredients. As part of Müller UK & Ireland, MMI supplies around 30% of Britain’s fresh milk and operates a nationwide network of dairies and depots.

We work with over 1,300 British farmers to transform milk into a wide range of products, including Müller Milk and dairy ingredients used by food manufacturers and retailers. MMI is committed to sustainability, innovation, and building a better future for dairy—investing in reducing food waste and improving environmental efficiency across our operations.

What you'll be doing

Müller is seeking motivated and talented university students to join our Finance team for a 13-month industrial placement.

As a Finance Intern within our Milk & Ingredients Finance department, you’ll work closely with a supportive and dynamic team to deliver timely, accurate financial, commercial, and operational insights that support key business decisions.

Key tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly finance reports to support informed business decisions.
  • KPI Reporting: Prepare and distribute reporting analysis and insight into key operational performance measures.
  • Month-end Processes: Assist with journal preparation and posting, stock reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Management Accounts Liaison: Work closely with the management accounts team to ensure accurate customer performance reporting.
  • Consolidation and reporting: Support the consolidation and reporting of key finance metrics, such as customer margins and pricing adjustments.
  • Collaborative Group Projects: Work alongside other placement students on a group project, enhancing teamwork and problem-solving skills.

What we're looking for

Müller is looking for analytical, numerically proficient students who are personable, outgoing, and capable of working both independently and within a tight-knit team. We’re seeking university students who are on track to achieve a 2:1 and above and are looking for a placement year role.

Key Skills & Qualifications Include:

  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to engage with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving: A proactive, solution-focused mindset.
  • Teamwork & Initiative: Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Organisation: Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Research & Analysis: Ability to understand data and tailor insights to different audiences.
  • Project Management: Interest or experience in managing projects.
  • Numeracy & Analytical Thinking: Confident working with numbers and using data to support decisions.
  • Digital Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other digital tools.
  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence held for at least one year.
  • UK Residency: Eligibility to work in the UK (Please note this role is not eligible for sponsorship as the salary falls below the required threshold.)
