Finance Intern (Accounting) - 12 Month Placement

This post is for a Finance Intern to work within the Core Accounting function of the International Controllership Accounting Team in Boeing UK Ltd (BUKL) in Bristol. BUKL is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company. The principal activities of BUKL are the provision of support and services, including payroll and other administrative work to its parent Company, The Boeing Company “TBC”, incorporated in the USA, and its affiliates, together with the operation and support of the Boeing fabrication facility located in Sheffield to produce actuation system parts for the 737 and 767 airplane programmes.

The successful candidate will join the International Controllership Team UK & Ireland, responsible for supporting a number of UK and Ireland entities in respect of:

Position Responsibilities:

Financial Controllership (Core): This team manages the Financial Accounting, Financial Controls and Financial Reporting for all UK and Ireland Entities, with the exception being Northern Ireland. We also manage technical accounting changes and report to a number of external stakeholders such as HMRC/ Office for National Statistics and manage the annual audit process through to production of statutory accounts, liaising with auditors to respond to all queries during the process. The broad aspects of the role include:

  • Supporting the Financial Accountants.
  • Bank reconciliation work.
  • Month end reconciliations.
  • Calculating and processing journals to make accounting adjustments.
  • Analysis and reporting on expenses and benefits to deliver the annual PSA.
  • Project work as required.
  • Learning about the different businesses within our scope to deliver a more relevant accounting service.
  • Assisting on production of month end journals and financial accounting tasks.
  • Presentations on financial results.
  • Working on cashflow tracking to support dividend/ loan decisions.
  • Any other admin or support activities as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Right to work in UK - We do not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working towards a Finance related degree with an estimated grade of 2:1 or above preferred.
  • An ambition to study towards a professional qualification (eg CIMA/ACCA etc) subsequent to University.
  • Proactive in their approach to work and an ambition to learn more/develop themselves during their 12 month internship.
  • Experience with using basic Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Confident in presenting data/information/ideas to more senior members of the Finance and other functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and an emphasis on first time quality.

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will be expected to undergo an Intrusive Security Clearance Process, which will require 5 years uninterrupted residency in the UK prior to applying.
