Join Forward Education Trust as our Finance Lead

Forward Education Trust is seeking an exceptional Finance Lead to join our central team and play a key role in supporting the strategic and operational management of the Trust's finances.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified person, who is looking to make a meaningful difference within a values-driven organisation that is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people across our academies. Finance at this Trust is much more than just numbers – it’s about understanding what’s behind the numbers, making money work for us in the best way possible, for our children and staff.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, you will provide financial leadership across the Trust, leading on budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, compliance, and financial planning. You will work closely with Headteachers, senior leaders, and Trustees, providing high-quality financial insight to support effective decision-making and long-term sustainability.

  • Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and medium-term financial planning.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis, modelling, and business partnering support to school and Trust leaders.
  • Lead year-end preparation, external audit activity, and statutory financial returns.
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations and key balance sheet controls.
  • Support the development of robust financial systems, controls, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with academy, charity, and financial regulations.
  • Contribute to Trust-wide strategic planning, growth, and development initiatives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
