Your new company
HAYS are excited to be partnering with a well-established and growing UK business that is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to join its leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys combining hands-on financial management with team leadership and business partnering responsibilities.
Based in Cannock, the role offers a hybrid working pattern of four days in the office and one day from home.
Your new role
Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, leading a team across management accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable. You'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, managing cash flow, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, driving process improvements and providing meaningful commercial insight to stakeholders across the organisation.
This opportunity would suit a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with previous experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Senior Management Accountant position. Strong management accounting, financial reporting and team leadership experience are essential, along with the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
