Reporting to the UK Head of Finance, the Finance Manager

Reporting to the UK Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will lead a small finance team, including transactional finance colleagues and a Management Accountant, based at our Wixroyd site in Chichester.

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring financial control and compliance, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and providing valuable financial insight to the business. Working closely with the wider EMEA Finance network, you will play an important role in driving continuous improvement, supporting business integration and transformation initiatives, and helping the site achieve its strategic objectives.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Management of month-end process across the team and ownership of key processes such as payroll validation, cash control leading to the production of the month-end reporting in line with the Essentra Account Manual, including the consolidation of the Wixroyd Group entities (until no longer necessary).
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and support business performance.
  • Maintain integrity and accuracy of balance sheet along with preparation and review of monthly reconciliations.
  • Maintain, with supporting documentation, the Minimum Control Standard (MCS), ensure deviations are duly validated and action plans to meet the MCS are in place and followed-up.
  • Support the year-end audit and responsibility for delivery of own and direct reports audit requests.
  • Support Financial Planning & Analysis Team along with the wider finance team on ad hoc work including projects.
  • Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations throughout.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.
  • Ownership of weekly cash reporting to Group.
  • Organise, and prepare with the local management, the forecasts as well as the yearly budget leading to the submission to Region / Group alongside full required analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with tax authorities through the timely submission and payment of VAT, CIT, payroll taxes and potential other taxes.
  • Manage external audit requests to support the successful completion of audits, as well as liaise with the external Tax Accounting firm to ensure timely completion of Corporate Tax submission.
  • Ensure preparation of monthly Control File with all relevant documentation.
  • Lead and support finance activities related to system upgrades and business transformation projects, including the transition to Essentra's ERP platform.
  • Play a key role in the continued integration and development of Wixroyd within Essentra.
  • Management and mentoring of team to support and encourage their development.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager or similar leadership role
  • Strong month-end, budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Experience working within a multinational or matrix organisation
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of VAT and corporate tax compliance
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Experience supporting change, system implementations or business transformation projects
