Finance Manager (SME Manufacturing)
Pilsworth, Bury, Lancashire (BL9 8RZ)
£35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
Full-time, Permanent, on-site 5 days per week

Ibex Marina Ropes Ltd is a successful and financially stable UK manufacturer of specialist fibre ropes, cords, and braids, supplying customers across Military, Aerospace, Marine Safety, and Outdoor Leisure markets.
Ibex is part of the UK’s largest privately owned group of rope manufacturing companies. Ibex has a turnover of approximately £3 million, a team of 35 employees, and a newly opened modern manufacturing facility in Pilsworth. We are entering an exciting phase of growth and development.
Due to retirement, we are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function, provide accurate financial reporting, and support strategic business decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working within an SME environment where they can make a genuine impact.
The Opportunity
Partnering with senior management, you will oversee all aspects of financial accounting, compliance, reporting, and financial controls, whilst supporting the wider business with valuable commercial insight.
This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to become a key member of the leadership team.
Responsibilities of the Finance Manager
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
- Manage sales ledger, purchase ledger, and credit control activities
- Oversee payroll administration, pensions, and statutory deductions
- Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, and HMRC requirements
- Monitor cash flow and support forecasting activities
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls and processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide financial reporting and insights to senior management
- Assist with manufacturing cost analysis and margin reporting
- Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and professional advisors
- Maintain HR records and administration
- Act as the internal point of contact for IT-related matters

About You
You will be an organised and commercially aware finance professional who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the finance function.
Requirements of the Finance Manager
- AAT qualified, part-qualified CIMA/ACCA, or qualified by experience
- Experience producing monthly management accounts within an SME environment
- Strong knowledge of VAT, PAYE, and HMRC compliance
- Cash flow management, forecasting, and budgeting experience
- Payroll administration experience, including pensions
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the business
- Ideally, experience within a manufacturing or production environment
- Ideally, experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (full training provided)

Location & Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
This is a fully site-based role at our Pilsworth facility (BL9 8RZ), conveniently located close to Junction 3 of the M66. Due to the location, applicants should have their own transport.
Occasional travel to the parent company and flexibility outside normal working hours may be required to meet business needs.
