We’re working with a high-growth, PE-backed technology business looking to appoint a technically strong Finance Manager to join their London finance team.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a broad role with exposure across group reporting, technical accounting, controls, audit and finance transformation. You’ll also manage and develop a small team, whilst remaining hands-on and close to the detail.
It would suit an ACA-qualified accountant who trained within a Top 10 firm and has since gained experience within industry, or someone looking to build on an initial move out of practice within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
The Role

- Supporting the preparation and review of consolidated group reporting
- Reviewing monthly management accounts and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information
- Managing balance sheet reporting, reconciliations and the wider financial control environment
- Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts across multiple entities
- Acting as a key point of contact for the external auditors and managing audit requirements
- Providing technical accounting support across the group
- Reviewing accounting treatments and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Managing and developing a small finance team, reviewing their work and supporting their progression
- Maintaining oversight of transactional finance and ensuring issues are identified and resolved
- Working closely with the Group Financial Controller to strengthen processes and controls as the business scales
- Supporting finance transformation, systems development and process automation
- Identifying opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting
- Working with stakeholders across the wider business to improve financial understanding and reporting
- Supporting wider projects and ad hoc analysis across the finance function

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
