About A&T Trained Dogs

A&T Trained Dogs is a dog training and care business on a seven-acre countryside site in Lancaster. We train and sell assistance, therapy, family protection and pet dogs, and run residential and one-to-one training, boarding, daycare and grooming.

We have a team of around 18 people and a strong customer reputation. The business has grown quickly, and we now need our finances run with the same care we give our dogs.

Purpose of the role

You will own A&T's finances day to day: keeping the books accurate, controlling spend and cash, and giving the Managing Director clear numbers to run the business on. The main goal is to cut cost and grow profit across every service line.

This is a hands-on role. You will tidy up and put in order what exists today, then build the controls and reporting a growing business needs.

Key responsibilities

Bookkeeping and accounts

  • Run the day-to-day books in Sage, making sure every transaction is coded correctly and consistently
  • Carry out monthly bank, card and payment-provider (Stripe) reconciliations
  • Review and correct the chart of accounts so income and costs are grouped clearly by service line
  • Keep sales and purchase ledgers accurate, chase overdue customer balances and manage supplier payments

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
