The Business
A long-established, family-owned business is seeking a hands-on and commercially aware Finance Manager to establish and take ownership of its day-to-day finance function.
The company provides design, installation and ongoing maintenance services within a specialist workplace environment and is entering an important stage of development. The appointment will strengthen financial reporting, control and commercial visibility across the business.
The Role
The business currently uses an external accountancy provider for finance support and will also work with a fractional Finance Director, who will provide strategic guidance and support the development of the finance infrastructure.
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the fractional FD, the Finance Manager will produce reliable management information, improve financial processes and support better commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Provide clear commentary on performance, variances and emerging issues
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and strong month-end controls
- Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow reporting
- Monitor debtors, creditors and wider working-capital performance
- Improve reporting across revenue, costs, margins and profitability
- Support customer, project and service profitability analysis
- Coordinate VAT, payroll information, year-end accounts and statutory requirements
- Act as the main day-to-day contact for external advisers
- Strengthen finance processes, controls and reporting disciplines
- Work with operational teams to improve financial understanding and accountability
- Implement the reporting and control framework agreed with the fractional FD

About You
You will ideally be:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
- Experienced in producing management accounts from start to finish
- Strong in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and balance sheet control
- Comfortable working in an SME, owner-managed or family-owned business
- Hands-on and willing to work directly with the financial detail
- Commercially aware and able to turn financial information into useful insight
- Confident working with non-finance stakeholders
- Proactive, organised and comfortable improving existing processes
