Finance Manager - Up to £55,000 - Permanent
📍 Wednesbury | Full-Time | Office-Based
Are you a hands-on Finance Manager looking for a role where you can genuinely influence the success of a growing SME?
We're partnering with a well-established business seeking a proactive and commercially minded Finance Manager to work closely with the CFO and take ownership of the finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety that comes with an SME environment—combining financial leadership, operational involvement, and strategic support.
You'll be a key part of the business, providing accurate financial information, supporting commercial decision-making, leading a small team, and driving improvements across finance processes and systems. We're looking for someone who isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up, get into the detail when needed, and add value across the wider organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the business.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close process while maintaining strong financial controls and compliance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and provide insightful analysis to support business decision-making.
- Partner with the CFO and wider management team to drive commercial performance and support strategic initiatives.
- Manage and develop a small finance team, while remaining hands-on and supporting day-to-day finance activities when required.
- Oversee working capital, including debtors, creditors, and stock, identifying opportunities to improve cash flow and profitability.
- Coordinate the annual audit process and ensure compliance with VAT, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting, and systems, including the ongoing development of Microsoft Dynamics.

About You
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar senior finance position.
- Strong management accounting, financial reporting, and financial control experience.
- Experience working within an SME environment where a flexible and hands-on approach is essential.
- Confident managing workloads, priorities, and stakeholders across the business.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement and adding commercial value.
- Experience within manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, engineering, or other stock-based environments would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be beneficial but is not essential.
