Finance Manager (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

THE ORGANISATION

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established professional services business during a period of growth and transformation. The organisation prides itself on delivering exceptional client service and is seeking an experienced finance professional to support its ongoing operational and strategic objectives.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day finance function while providing valuable commercial insight to support business decision-making. This is a hands-on position, managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting process improvements across the business. The role also includes responsibility for supervising and developing a junior member of the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the finance function and oversee team priorities.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including accounting adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supervise, mentor and support a Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintain robust financial controls.
  • Act as the internal expert for the organisation's practice management system and support users across the business.
  • Provide financial analysis and business insights to support operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and provide finance business partnering support.
  • Oversee credit control activities and support cash flow management.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and support year-end statutory reporting processes.
  • Assist with change initiatives, process improvements and finance-related projects.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Strong background in financial management, reporting and operational finance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability.
  • Experience leading or supervising finance team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Experience working with accounting and practice management systems would be advantageous.
  • Adaptable, collaborative and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

ON OFFER

This initial six-month fixed-term contract offers an excellent opportunity to join a successful and evolving business in a highly visible finance leadership role. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will have the opportunity to influence decision-making, improve processes, and contribute to key business initiatives. The position also offers the potential for a permanent opportunity beyond the initial contract term.
