Description

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful variance analysis.
  • Deliver financial insights and performance reporting to senior leadership teams.
  • Support decision-making through accurate and timely financial information.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support the annual budgeting process across multiple departments.
  • Prepare regular forecasts and financial projections.
  • Work closely with budget holders to monitor performance against budget.
  • Provide constructive challenge and support to ensure effective use of resources.

Charity & Fund Accounting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for restricted, unrestricted and designated funds.
  • Monitor grant funding and expenditure to ensure compliance with funding conditions.
  • Produce financial reports and returns for funders.
  • Support compliance with Charity SORP and relevant accounting standards.

Financial Control

  • Maintain robust financial controls and governance processes.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support year-end accounts preparation and external audit processes.
  • Contribute to risk management and internal control activities.

Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted finance partner to operational managers.
  • Present financial information clearly and confidently to stakeholders.
  • Improve financial understanding across non-finance teams.
  • Support managers in making informed commercial and operational decisions.

Profile

A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • Strong experience in financial management and reporting.
  • A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to stakeholders.

Job Offer

We are seeking an experienced finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively with stakeholders and translating financial information into meaningful business insight.

You will ideally have:

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) status or be qualified by experience.
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience of budgeting, forecasting and business partnering.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience within the charity, not-for-profit, public sector or grant-funded environment would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Charity SORP and fund accounting would be beneficial but is not essential.
