Finance Manager - 12 Month Contract

Role Overview

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day finance operations across multiple international entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, statutory compliance, and continuous process improvement. The role provides leadership to the transactional finance team while partnering with stakeholders across the business to deliver commercial insight and support strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end transactional finance function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities across multiple international entities.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis at both entity and consolidated group level.
  • Oversee payroll operations across multiple countries, managing relationships with external payroll providers to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team, setting clear objectives, providing mentoring, and supporting professional development.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve financial processes, internal controls, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax obligations, VAT returns, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage R&D tax credit submissions and coordinate with external advisors where required.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and cash flow planning, providing meaningful financial analysis to support business decisions.
  • Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to provide commercial insight, financial guidance, and decision support.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring accurate financial records and timely provision of audit documentation.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend practical solutions to strengthen governance and operational performance.
  • Drive finance transformation initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to improve reporting, controls, and business processes.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Experience leading transactional finance functions and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business partnering.
  • Experience operating within multi-entity and international business environments.
  • Knowledge of payroll, VAT, statutory reporting, and tax compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance audiences.
  • Experience driving process improvements, implementing financial controls, and supporting finance transformation initiatives.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel, with experience using finance technologies to improve reporting and operational.
