Finance Manager – Part Time

Location

Sheffield

Working pattern

Part time – 22.5 hours per week (flexible on number of days)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to join a well-established professional organisation in Sheffield.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in the effective day-to-day running of the finance function. This is a varied role with responsibility across management reporting, financial control, budgeting and forecasting, investment cost reporting and financial analysis.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of finance processes and systems, while supporting and developing members of the Finance team.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts, including analysis and commentary.
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and balance sheet controls.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting, working closely with budget owners.
  • Produce high-quality financial analysis and management information for senior management and committees.
  • Coordinate the reporting, reconciliation and analysis of investment management fees and related costs.
  • Investigate variances and work with internal and external stakeholders to improve reporting quality.
  • Support statutory accounts, regulatory returns and external audit activity.
  • Coordinate VAT, corporation tax, PAYE and other finance compliance requirements.
  • Manage annual PSA and P11D processes and oversee payroll accounting controls.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, audit trails and review procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, controls and reporting.
  • Line manage and develop members of the Finance team, supporting performance and professional development.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, advisers, service providers and other stakeholders.

About you

We are looking for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who combines strong technical finance experience with a practical and collaborative approach.

You will ideally have:

  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualification, or be part-qualified.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting and financial controls.
  • Experience of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing statutory accounts and supporting external audit.
  • Good knowledge of VAT, PAYE, payroll accounting and routine tax compliance.
  • Strong Excel and finance systems experience, with the ability to analyse data and produce clear management information.
  • Experience of NetSuite would be desirable.
  • Experience within pensions, financial services, investment accounting or investment cost reporting would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain financial and technical matters clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • A collaborative, improvement-focused mindset and a willingness to support and develop others.
