Finance Manager
Cradley Heath | £45,000–£50,000
Full-time | Permanent | On-site
Are you a hands-on Finance Manager who enjoys having real ownership of the numbers?
We’re recruiting for an established, privately owned business looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take responsibility for its day-to-day finance function.
This is a broad role where you’ll be close to the operational side of the business, producing accurate management information, managing cashflow and providing the financial insight needed to support commercial decision-making.
You’ll also manage and support an Accounts Assistant, so we’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable getting into the detail and taking a wider view of business performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Construction, contracting or project-based industry experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential.
Likewise, a formal accounting qualification is welcomed but not required – relevant experience and the ability to take ownership of the finance function are much more important.
