Finance Manager

As Finance Manager, you will oversee and have responsibility for our accounting operation, providing financial reports and information, and maintaining the financial health of the company. This will include working closely with our local home care branches to process client invoicing, prepare staff payroll and manage supplier invoices. This role would suit a hands-on person, but will quickly evolve as we grow the team around you.

This role is based full-time in our Central Support office in Harrogate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective financial process controls whilst driving process improvements
  • Manage and mentor other members of the finance team (as it grows)
  • Hands-on involvement in day-to-day financial operations, ensuring operational excellence
  • Act as the key point of contact for any management accounting considerations
  • Produce monthly management accounts with external accountants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Support budgeting and forecasting, including cash flow, planning, data collection and execution
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
  • Work with external accountants, ensuring the company's financial practices adhere to statutory regulations and standards
  • Manage client invoicing and ensure timely processing of payments
  • Manage debtors, creditors and payments
  • Manage payroll, expenses, pensions and payments with external accountants
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations and all external reporting requirements are complete, accurate and timely
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with operational teams and other functions
  • Work closely with the Managing Director and communicate any relevant information to them

  • A fully qualified accountant, ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a finance manager or similar role
  • Experience within health and social care finance desirable
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax, audit, and financial reporting
  • Advanced experience with accounting software (Xero) and MS Excel
  • Access health and social care software experience desirable
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, use initiative and prioritise
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • People management and leadership experience
  • Warm, patient and compassionate but also emotionally resilient and calm under pressure
  • Reliable, trustworthy and committed to the position
  • Enthusiastic and positive 'can do' attitude with ability to motivate others
  • Commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of care and support
  • Commercially aware and a desire to succeed
  • Willing and motivated to learn to develop self and others
