Company Description
Candlelighters has supported children with cancer and their families across Yorkshire for 50 years. Each year more than 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer and our mission is to bring light to every family affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire by providing emotional, practical and financial support, as well as bringing hope, by investing in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer.
Role Description
The Finance Manager will play a key role in supporting the Charity. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Charity's finance function, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate financial processing of income and expenditure, and effective support for the production of key financial reporting. The postholder will report to and work closely with the CFO to provide financial insight, maintain robust financial systems, and contribute to the delivery of the Charity's strategic objectives. The role is hybrid and part time between 24 to 28 hours per week. More details can be found on the careers section of the Candlelighters website www.candlelighters.org.uk.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

- AAT Level 4 Qualification or significant equivalent finance experience in a similar role, with responsibility for month-end reporting, reconciliations, and income and expenditure monitoring.
- Experience coordinating month-end processes and managing multiple income streams.
- At least one year’s experience of line managing a team, with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Confidence using financial systems, ideally including Sage 50, and Microsoft Excel at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Preferably experience of working in the voluntary or charitable sector, including knowledge of Gift Aid, SORP accounting, year-end accounts, and liaison with auditors.
