Finance Manager
Location: Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire
Work Type: Hybrid working after probation
Salary: Competitive
A respected, growing legal practice is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead its finance function and provide commercial support to senior leadership.
This is a broad, hands-on role with responsibility for financial control, management reporting, cashflow, and regulatory compliance. You will manage an established, senior finance team of four and play a key part in maintaining and improving the firm’s financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Managing cashflow, banking, billing, WIP, debtors, and financial controls
- Delivering meaningful management information and commercial insight to senior stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules, VAT, payroll, and wider financial obligations
- Overseeing client and office account reconciliations, audit preparation, and regulatory reporting
- Leading, supporting, and developing an experienced finance team
- Improving finance systems, reporting, and processes

You will bring significant finance experience gained within a legal practice, including a sound working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and legal finance systems. You will be comfortable preparing management accounts and forecasts, managing a finance team, and working closely with senior stakeholders.

A recognised accounting qualification—such as AAT, ACCA, ACA, or CIMA—is desirable, as is previous COFA experience or the ability to take on that responsibility.
