Hays are partnered exclusively with an established biotech business on the outskirts of Cambridge and looking to recruit a Finance Manager to a newly created role within the business.

Your new role

This role will support the CFO in supporting the financial management of the business through the next stage in their growth and to scale their operations. Specifically, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Work closely with the CFO to execute the financial strategy of the business.
  • Assist in the delivery of preparation of management and statutory accounting and provide robust forecasting /budgeting.
  • Work in tandem with Project Management and R&D Team to ensure financial plans accurately reflect R&D plans and support the development of the R&D team's plans within the constraints of budget.
  • Work in tandem with the external Accounting team to ensure compliance with tax regulations, including timely reclaiming of R&D tax credits and fulfilment of VAT and PAYE / NI obligations.
  • Assist in the compilation of reports to be provided to investors under Information Rights.
  • In collaboration with the CFO, further develop business processes to ensure efficient purchasing, including payment of trade creditors and other expenses.
  • Support other business activities including banking & treasury, including optimising interest and cash management, insurance.
  • Support with outputs required for the Treasury Committee and Risk and Audit Committee.

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week on a hybrid basis between Monday and Friday.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience and technical knowledge.
  • Excellent communicator and ability to develop good working relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Skilled and strong in using Excel spreadsheets, and ability to build and maintain models.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience/exposure to working in a biotech with a hands-on self-starter approach.
  • Good IT knowledge, ideally with knowledge of Xero, SmartSheets and MS Excel.
