Management Accountant
Manchester City Centre | £50,000–£60,000 | Office-based
Forge Talent are partnering with a well-established and growing retail business, based in Manchester city centre.
Due to continued growth, they’re looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on management reporting, financial control and, importantly, stock and inventory accounting.
The Role
Reporting directly into the Finance Director, you’ll play a key role in the production of accurate monthly management accounts while working closely with the wider finance and operational teams.

A major part of the role will involve stock accounting and reconciliation, so previous experience working within a stock-led environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting analysis
- Balance sheet reconciliations and financial control
- Detailed stock and inventory accounting
- Stock reconciliations, movements and valuation
- Investigating stock variances and identifying discrepancies
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes
- Analysis of margins, revenue and costs
- Producing regular management information and reporting
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Working closely with operational teams to improve financial performance
- Assisting with audit and statutory reporting requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and financial controls

About You
We’re looking for a qualified accountant with strong management accounting experience and, ideally, a background within retail, FMCG, wholesale or another stock-intensive environment.
You’ll need to be comfortable working with large volumes of data and have a strong understanding of how stock impacts the P&L and balance sheet.
