Role Description
The Finance Manager is a full-time role based in Altrincham with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing some work from home. Day-to-day, the Finance Manager oversees budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the Trust, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts and reports for senior leadership and trustees. The role is responsible for maintaining robust financial controls, monitoring expenditure, managing cash flow, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding requirements. The Finance Manager will prepare financial statements, support audits, manage financial systems, and work closely with school leaders to provide clear, actionable financial insights. This role also involves contributing to strategic financial decisions, supervising finance staff where applicable, and continuously improving processes to support the Trust’s educational mission.

Qualifications

- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and general financial systems and controls.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations, funding frameworks, and audit requirements, ideally within the education or not-for-profit sector.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation abilities to support informed decision making.
- Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a busy environment.
- Experience in a finance leadership or senior finance role; line management experience is an advantage.
- Recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience in financial management.
- Collaborative approach, commitment to ethical practice, and alignment with the Trust’s educational values and safeguarding responsibilities.
