About The Role
Join us here at Poundland & Dealz as a Finance Manager, based at our Wigan Distribution Centre. The role offers flexibility for hybrid working with up to two days working from home.
With autonomy and trust to make an impact from day one, you lead the finance function for our Wigan Distribution Centre and partner with the General Manager, Warehouse Manager, and Transport Manager.
You’ll be accountable for operational finance services, reporting, forecasting, analysis, controls, and business support. In this role, you’ll:
- Lead Distribution Finance and Administration.
- Challenge operational performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Own forecasting, scenario planning, and monthly reporting.
- Deliver management reporting and business insight.
- Drive controls, audits, and compliance.
- Present at operational management meetings.
- Support investment appraisals and capital projects.
- Manage and develop a small finance team.
- Implement finance training for operational teams.
Preferred
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager with a strong understanding of logistics and distribution operations, including warehouse and transport cost drivers. Previous experience gained in a logistics, distribution, supply chain, or retail environment is preferred. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Advanced knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Proficient in accounting systems, with the ability to extract, analyze, and interpret large volumes of financial and operational data.
- Working knowledge of payroll, time and attendance systems, transport scheduling platforms, and wider operational systems.
- Understanding of financial controls, governance, audit processes, and compliance requirements within a distribution environment.
- Experience partnering with operational leadership teams to identify risks, opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrable success in driving cost reduction programs and continuous improvement projects.
- Experience presenting financial performance information and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing and developing finance and administration teams.
- Advanced Excel skills, including modeling, reporting, and data analysis.
- Minimum part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or qualified by experience.
