Finance Manager | £75k-£85k | PE-Backed, Acquisitive Group | Hybrid, Blackfriars (Tue-Thu)

I'm working exclusively on a Finance Manager role that's genuinely one of the more interesting number two positions I've seen this year, and I want to explain why rather than just list requirements at you.

The Group FC on this told me straight up that this is the most hands on Group FC role he's had in four roles at this level, and that's exactly what this Finance Manager position offers too. You won't be sat reviewing what someone else has already done. You'll be in the detail from day one, journals, balance sheet recs, payment run and payroll reviews, and building schedules, alongside real exposure to acquisition integration as the business continues to buy other companies (two or three more planned before year end).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a private equity backed group with entities across the UK, France, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. French GAAP alone is described internally as "a minefield," and that's the kind of stretch on offer here, IFRS, some US GAAP exposure, group audits, and working across a genuinely international structure most Finance Managers don't get access to until much later in their career.

Split is roughly 60% rolling your sleeves up, 40% the more advanced group and reporting work, and that balance shifts as the business grows through M&A. If you want to dip into everything and build a CV that shows real breadth, this is a strong move.

What I need to see on your CV:

  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or equivalent), no exceptions
  • Solid industry experience, ideally with IFRS and some US GAAP exposure
  • Comfortable with genuinely transactional work, not purely a review function
  • A true team player who's happy supporting colleagues and collaborating outside finance too, this isn't a role for someone who only wants to speak to finance
  • Ideally immediately available, Maximum one month notice period, this is fixed, not a nice to have

Why the urgency:

The person currently in the role leaves mid September, so there's a real handover deadline behind this search. I'm only putting forward a small number of candidates who genuinely fit, and I'd rather have an honest conversation upfront than waste your time if the notice period doesn't work.

Based close to Blackfriars, in the office Tuesday to Thursday.
