Marc Daniels is recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to join a successful, award-winning software business based near Slough. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation undergoing an exciting period of digital transformation and expansion. The successful candidate will take ownership of the month-end reporting process, support commercial decision-making and lead a finance team to deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial information.

The role

The Finance Manager will own the end-to-end monthly close process and production of the management accounts. You will be responsible for ensuring strong financial controls, driving improvements across the finance function and acting as deputy to the Financial Controller when required.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end month-end close process and ensure the timely production of accurate management accounts.
  • Lead the preparation and review of the monthly P&L, including detailed analysis of variances against budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Present financial results, key movements and business performance to senior management.
  • Use management tools to monitor deadlines, manage dependencies and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations, month-end schedules and supporting analysis are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee weekly cash flow forecasting and communicate significant movements, risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide clear financial analysis and commercial insight.
  • Support the preparation of annual financial statements and the external audit process.
  • Manage the VAT reporting process and ensure returns are prepared accurately and submitted on time.
  • Lead process improvement, systems enhancement and automation projects across Finance.
  • Support the financial integration of acquisitions, including reporting, accounting and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and emerging technologies to improve finance processes and reporting.
  • Lead, coach and develop the finance team, creating a positive and collaborative working environment.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting experience and a commercially focused approach. You will be confident working with senior stakeholders and able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

You will ideally have:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong technical accounting and management reporting experience.
  • Experience working within a complex legal entity structure.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using financial reporting systems.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Experience managing, coaching or developing a finance team.
  • A proven ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience integrating acquisitions or working across multiple finance systems is desirable.
  • Experience using management platforms would be advantageous.
