Reporting to: Group Commercial Finance Director
Location: North Walsham
Job Purpose
- Act as support to the Managing Director in order to ensure that business objectives are achieved
- To manage and maintain the Finance Department’s Systems and Processes
- To monitor and report on key business financial data, debt management and to minimise risk to the business
- To assist in the development and implementation of processes/procedures etc required by the needs of the business
Principal Duties
Financial Management & Reporting
- Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
- Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and KPI reporting.
- Analyse financial performance and provide commentary on variances and trends.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems and controls.
- Support the preparation of board packs and management presentations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Monitor business performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Manufacturing Finance
- Monitor and analyse manufacturing costs, labour utilisation, inventory levels and overhead absorption.
- Review standard costing and product profitability.
- Work closely with production management to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support inventory control and valuation processes.
- Ensure accurate reporting of work-in-progress (WIP) and stock.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting and reporting.
- Monitor debtor and creditor balances.
- Improve working capital performance across the business.
- Maintain banking relationships and oversee payment processes.
Financial Control & Compliance
- Maintain strong financial controls and governance.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
- Oversee VAT, corporation tax and other regulatory filings.
- Coordinate annual audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage insurance, payroll oversight and company secretarial requirements where applicable.
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop members of the finance team.
- Establish clear objectives and performance expectations.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function.
- Provide coaching and support to non-financial managers.

Business Partnering
- Partner with department managers to improve financial awareness and accountability.
- Support investment appraisals and capital expenditure reviews.
- Deliver financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Assist senior leadership in identifying business risks and opportunities
Skills and experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience. (Desirable)
- Minimum 3 years' finance experience, including management accounting and financial control.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management.
- Experience producing management accounts and financial analysis.
- Strong commercial awareness and business partnering capability.
- Proven ability to work independently in a hands-on SME environment.
