Blair West are delighted to be supporting Mandata, a growing, technology-led business headquartered at Quorum Business Park in Newcastle, to find a Finance Manager. Mandata are a software business with real momentum, this is a role that goes well beyond traditional finance leadership, sitting at the intersection of commercial, operational and technology decisions across the Group. Reporting directly to the CEO and leading a team of four, this is a genuine opportunity for a technically strong, commercially curious finance leader to make their mark.

The opportunity:

  • Lead the Mandata finance function end-to-end, owning management reporting, the balance sheet, cash flow and monthly consolidated management accounts, with nothing getting lost month to month.
  • Act as a genuine business partner across the Group, getting close to commercial and operational decisions, spotting where processes aren't working and building and rolling out the fix.
  • Own the end-to-end month-end cycle, weekly 13-week cash flow and monthly finance pack, delivering accurate and timely financial information to the CEO and wider stakeholders.
  • Take full ownership of the group audit, statutory accounts, tax, R&D claim and all other compliance requirements.
  • Own the ERP (Sage Intacct) and CRM (HubSpot), from systems and process through to the guardrails around the end-to-end sales flow.
  • Get directly involved in commercial conversations with sales and customer teams, bringing confident, data-driven insight to pricing and revenue decisions.
  • Drive AI, automation and BI adoption across finance and sales, introducing tools such as Power Automate, Power BI and others to help the wider team work smarter.
  • Coach and develop a finance team of four, building their capability so they can own the day-to-day as the business grows.
  • As the role matures: take ownership of the budget and forecasting cycle, covenant and bank discussions, and board pack preparation, with ad hoc involvement in M&A, refinancing and investor relations as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
