About The Role

Sheridan Maine London is recruiting a Finance Manager to join a growing organisation in Hertford, on a full-time, permanent basis. This on-site role commands a salary between £55,000 and £65,000 per annum. You will take charge of the daily finance function, delivering precise reporting and analysis to senior leaders. Core duties encompass managing ledgers, cash flow, and year-end procedures, alongside enhancing operational efficiency. The position suits a qualified accountant with strong technical skills and commercial acumen. Working closely with management, you will translate financial data into strategic insight, supporting the company’s continued expansion. This is a standalone leadership role for a proactive professional ready to influence business decisions from the heart of the operation.

As the organisation enters its next stage of growth, they are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and play a key role in supporting the wider business.

This is a fully on-site position offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, providing meaningful financial insight and helping to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and regulatory compliance. You will also take a proactive approach to improving processes and supporting commercial decision-making.

Your Key Responsibilities As Finance Manager

  • Manage the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
  • Oversee monthly payroll and related statutory reporting requirements.
  • Manage VAT, pensions and other financial compliance requirements.
  • Oversee supplier payments, cash flow and banking activities.
  • Prepare and review month-end accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Produce regular financial reports and present key findings to senior leadership.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning.
  • Monitor customer accounts, credit limits and outstanding debts.
  • Oversee billing, invoicing and credit control processes.
  • Ensure robust financial controls and processes are maintained across the business.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes and financial efficiency.
  • Lead, support and develop the finance team, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.

About You

We are looking for a confident and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership and making a genuine contribution to a growing business.

You Will Ideally Have

  • Strong experience in a financial management or senior finance position.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Good understanding of financial compliance, legislation and risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn financial data into meaningful insights.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification is highly desirable, although relevant experience will also be considered.
