Finance Manager

£51,000 | Membership / professional organisation

Membership Bespoke is recruiting an Interim Finance Manager for a well-established membership organisation going through a period of change and development.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, alongside an opportunity to improve systems, processes and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day finance function and ensure accurate and timely financial information
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial analysis
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
  • Monitor financial performance and provide insight to support organisational decision-making
  • Manage banking, reconciliations, purchase and sales ledger, invoicing and payment runs
  • Oversee payroll and pension administration
  • Monitor aged debtors and work with budget holders to support timely collection
  • Manage VAT compliance and statutory financial requirements
  • Coordinate year-end processes and work with external accountants and auditors
  • Oversee Companies House filings and corporate compliance requirements
  • Lead the review and improvement of finance processes, controls and procedures
  • Lead the implementation of a new finance system, likely Sage, Xero or similar
  • Improve the quality and accessibility of management information
  • Provide financial advice and support to budget holders and senior stakeholders
  • Manage and coordinate financial activity across the organisation and its affiliated organisations

The opportunity

  • Salary: £51,000
  • Opportunity to take ownership of a finance function during a period of change
  • Scope to improve systems, processes, controls and management information

We are looking for an experienced finance professional with:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience
  • Experience overseeing transactional finance processes
  • Experience reviewing and improving finance systems and processes
  • Experience implementing or significantly improving a finance system such as Sage, Xero or similar
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive and improvement-focused approach
  • Experience within a membership organisation, professional association, charity, not-for-profit or similar environment
