Finance Manager

Location: Bodiam, East Sussex
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent

Are you a part-qualified or newly qualified accountant with strong commercial and business partnering experience looking for a broad, hands-on finance role?

We are working with a well-established organisation that is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join its finance function. This is a commercially focused position, working closely with senior operational stakeholders to drive financial performance, improve efficiency, and support business growth.

Please note: This role is based in Bodiam, East Sussex. Candidates should be comfortable with the location and commute before applying.

The Role

Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will act as a trusted finance partner to senior stakeholders, providing financial insight, analysis, and constructive challenge to support informed business decisions.

The role combines commercial business partnering, financial performance management, and operational finance, giving you exposure across budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow, working capital, and process improvement.

You will also work collaboratively with teams across the wider organisation and shared services, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and effective financial processes are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted finance adviser to senior stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Provide financial analysis, insight, and challenge to support commercial decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
  • Support revenue growth initiatives and assess their financial impact.
  • Lead and support monthly financial reporting and performance reviews.
  • Review financial information and ensure accuracy, appropriate coding, and alignment with budgets.
  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Monitor cash collection, aged debt, and cash flow performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve working capital and cash conversion.
  • Support complex payment and collection matters where required.
  • Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Support process improvements and the adoption of finance technology.
  • Assist with audit requirements and other ad hoc financial projects.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded and confident finance professional who enjoys partnering with non-finance stakeholders and using financial information to influence business decisions. You will ideally have:

  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent or close to being qualified.
  • 5+ years' experience in business partnering or commercial finance.
  • Strong experience working with operational and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proven experience across budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and influence senior decision-makers.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and problem-solving.

Experience working within a multi-site or shared services environment would be advantageous.
