Finance Manager

Cambridge, £60,000 – £70,000 + benefits
5 days per week on-site

We're working with a venture-backed Cambridge technology business that has secured significant investment and is now entering an important stage in its development.

They now need a qualified Finance Manager who can take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while helping put the foundations in place for the next stage of the business.

This is a hands-on role, and you'll be joining a relatively small, ambitious business where you'll work closely with senior management and external advisers to make sure Finance provides the control, information and support as the business scales.

For someone joining as a strong Finance Manager today, there is genuine potential for the position to develop over the coming years.

What will you be doing?

  • You'll take responsibility for a broad range of finance activities, including:
    • Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reporting for management and the Board
    • Managing cash and treasury, including short-term cash forecasting
    • Leading the annual audit and statutory accounts process
    • Managing budgeting and supporting forecasting and financial planning
    • Overseeing outsourced transactional accounting and working closely with external accountants and advisers
    • Managing tax compliance across VAT, corporation tax, R&D tax and employment taxes
    • Supporting and developing appropriate financial controls, policies and processes
    • Overseeing payroll, pensions, customer onboarding and sales invoicing
    • Taking ownership of key finance systems and helping identify how these need to evolve as the business grows
    • Exploring how technology and AI can make the finance function smarter and more efficient
    • Supporting senior colleagues with wider commercial and strategic finance projects

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant who is comfortable taking ownership and working with a high degree of autonomy.

Previous experience within a start-up, scale-up, manufacturing or similarly fast-changing SME environment would be particularly useful, but we're equally interested in people who can demonstrate the right breadth, attitude and appetite to work in this type of business.

You might currently be a Finance Manager, Senior Financial Accountant, or potentially be working within Practice with a portfolio of SME clients and looking for an opportunity to make your move into industry.
