About the role

As Finance Manager at Gepp Solicitors, you'll lead our in-house Finance team and play an important role in supporting the continued success and growth of the firm.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to take ownership of our financial operations, reporting and compliance, while working closely with the firm's leadership team and other Business Services Managers.

You'll combine strong technical expertise with a commercial approach, ensuring robust financial controls and providing clear, timely financial information to support effective decision-making across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to make a real impact during a period of growth and positive change.

Following the successful completion of your probationary period, this role offers hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the in-house Finance team
  • Managing cashflow and supporting effective financial planning
  • Overseeing office account processes and supplier payments
  • Overseeing client account processes and ensuring compliance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules
  • Producing and delivering financial reports to support income generation, cost management and business decision-making
  • Managing month-end and year-end financial processes
  • Overseeing the preparation of management accounts and statutory annual accounts
  • Managing partnership tax, VAT payments and HMRC compliance
  • Overseeing credit control, aged debts and residual balances
  • Managing payroll processes in conjunction with HR
  • Liaising with the firm's accountants, bank, service providers and suppliers
  • Working collaboratively with other Business Services Managers and their teams
  • Maintaining robust financial processes, procedures and internal controls

About you

You’ll have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Experience leading a finance function within a law firm or similar professional services environment
  • Strong financial management, reporting and compliance experience
  • Experience of financial controls, cashflow management and management accounts
  • Experience using practice and case management systems, accounting and payroll systems and other relevant software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities
