Finance Manager – Commercial & Performance

The Wise Group

Glasgow | Flexible | Hybrid Working
£55,000–£58,000 plus excellent benefits

Iconic Resourcing is proud to be retained exclusively by The Wise Group - one of Scotland's leading social enterprises - to find their next Finance Manager – Commercial & Performance. The Wise Group is evolving its Finance function, creating a stronger connection between financial performance, delivery, and growth.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Manager – Commercial & Performance will work closely with Service Delivery and Commercial & Partnerships, helping colleagues understand financial and contract performance, what is driving change, and what that means for the decisions ahead.

Supported by a Financial Analyst, the role will use financial information to look ahead, challenge assumptions, and turn insight into action. It will also play an important role in bids, pricing, and new opportunities, helping shape the financial and commercial assumptions at the outset and ensuring these carry through into mobilisation and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted Finance partner to Service Delivery and Commercial & Partnerships, providing insight, support, and constructive challenge.
  • Get underneath contract and service performance, understanding the financial and operational drivers behind it.
  • Use management information, forecasts, and analysis to identify emerging risks, opportunities, and choices.
  • Provide financial and commercial input into bids, pricing, and new opportunities, testing assumptions, and ensuring proposals stack up.
  • Develop and challenge financial models, business cases, investment proposals, and options.
  • Strengthen the link from bid and pricing through mobilisation and into delivery, ensuring assumptions and commitments remain understood as services go live.
  • Support the Head of Finance with enterprise-wide forecasting, performance, and forward-looking financial insight.
  • Lead and develop the Financial Analyst.
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager – Accounting & Control to ensure insight and decision-making are underpinned by strong financial information and controls.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

At the heart of our approach is Relational Mentoring – starting with the person rather than the service and building trusted relationships that help people navigate challenges and make lasting change.

Today, the Wise Group is also evolving. We are investing in our data, evidence, technology, partnerships, and commercial capability and are increasingly focused on making more of what we have built – our experience, relationships, evidence, and capability.

Finance has an important part to play in that next stage. We are building a function that combines strong financial control with better insight, commercial thinking, and closer relationships with the organisation.

For the person joining us, that means an opportunity to help shape how Finance works – not simply reporting what has happened, but helping us understand what is changing, what comes next, and what we should do about it.
