Finance Manager
Location: Remote or Hybrid in Central London
Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Employment type: Full-time
About the Role
We are looking for a fully qualified, hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function within a small but rapidly growing business.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be the sole finance team member and will have responsibility for the full accounting cycle. This is a broad and hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys working independently, has excellent attention to detail and wants to play an important role in developing the finance function as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable
- Raise and issue customer invoices and credit notes
- Allocate and reconcile customer payments
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue invoices
- Maintain accurate customer account records
- Process and code supplier invoices accurately and promptly
- Maintain supplier records and resolve invoice queries
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
Banking & Payments
- Maintain accurate bank records and process bank transactions
- Complete regular bank reconciliations
- Prepare payment runs and ensure payments are made accurately and on time.
Journals & Month-End
- Post all routine and non-routine accounting journals
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for key balance sheet accounts
- Manage the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met
- Assist the CFO with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Support the CFO with cash flow and working capital reporting.

Year-End Accounts
- Take responsibility for the finance team's preparation for year-end
- Prepare year-end schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Ensure the accounting records are complete and accurate ahead of the year-end close
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and related year-end adjustments.
Finance Systems & Controls
- Take ownership of the day-to-day use and maintenance of Xero
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately coded
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Help develop and improve finance processes as the business grows.
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline repetitive processes.
- Maintain appropriate financial controls and documentation.
- Support the CFO with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
- Work cross-functionally with colleagues across the business to resolve finance-related queries.
Payroll
- Support the payroll process and liaise with the relevant payroll provider or internal stakeholders.
- Review payroll information and ensure payroll journals are accurately recorded.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts.
- Assist with payroll queries and general payroll administration.
About You
We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable and comfortable taking ownership.
Essential:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Relevant post-qualification experience in a hands-on finance or accounting role.
- Practical experience using Xero.
- Strong experience across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Experience preparing payment runs and posting journals.
- Strong understanding of month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience preparing or supporting year-end accounts.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and controls.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication.
- At least intermediate level excel skills.
