Job Title: Transactional Finance Manager

Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid)

Salary: £50,000-£60,000

Reports to: Commercial Finance Director

Sowena Group is proud to be partnering with a growing, multi-entity business in Greater Manchester to appoint a Transactional Finance Manager as they continue to strengthen their finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transactional finance professional to lead a high-performing team and take ownership of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management functions across multiple entities. Working closely with the Commercial Finance Director and wider finance leadership team, you'll play a key role in driving financial control, improving processes and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Leading a team of four, you'll be responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, delivering operational excellence and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and standardisation. This role offers significant exposure across the wider finance function, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to influence change within a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of four transactional finance professionals, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and development is supported.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management functions across multiple entities.
  • Ensure supplier payments, customer receipts and bank reconciliations are processed accurately and in line with agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain robust financial controls across all transactional finance processes.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and support the accuracy of month-end reporting.
  • Oversee VAT processes and ensure compliance with UK reporting requirements.
  • Monitor credit control performance, customer credit limits and working capital.
  • Support cash management activities and provide accurate cash reporting to the wider finance team.
  • Partner with Management Accountants, Finance Business Partners and operational stakeholders to continually improve finance processes.
  • Identify and deliver process improvements, automation initiatives and standardisation across the transactional finance function.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

About You

  • Previous experience in a Transactional Finance Manager, Finance Operations Manager or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control and Cash Management.
  • Experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Strong financial controls and reconciliation experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience of ERP systems.
  • Experience within a multi-entity environment would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI and UK VAT legislation would be beneficial.
