PHIX | Manchester
PHIX is an independent British fashion brand with a global customer base and a distinctive identity rooted in music and culture.
We’re looking for an ambitious, hands-on Finance Manager to strengthen our finance function and support our continued international growth.
Working directly with the founder, you’ll take ownership of financial reporting and controls while helping improve how we manage stock, cash and profitability. This is an opportunity to make a visible commercial impact and develop towards broader finance leadership.
You might already be a Finance Manager or Financial Controller, or a strong Senior Management Accountant ready for greater responsibility. You’ll bring solid accounting experience, commercial curiosity and the confidence to get into the detail.
The role
Working with our existing finance team, operational colleagues and external advisers, you’ll provide reliable reporting, clear visibility of upcoming commitments and practical recommendations that support better decisions.
Financial reporting and control
- Own monthly management accounts, balance-sheet reconciliations and the month-end timetable.
- Develop clear reporting across international operations, including consolidated management reporting where required.
- Explain performance against budget, investigate variances and recommend action.
- Maintain accurate accounting for stock, cost of goods sold, returns, payment fees and foreign-exchange movements.
- Strengthen payment approvals, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Coordinate with external accountants on year-end accounts, statutory reporting and filing deadlines.
International finance and transfer pricing
- Manage intercompany invoicing, balances, reconciliations and settlements.
- Support multi-entity and multi-currency reporting, including intercompany eliminations.
- Work with specialist advisers on transfer-pricing arrangements, taking ownership of their practical implementation and supporting records.
- Ensure agreed stock transfer prices, management charges and cost allocations are applied consistently.
- Monitor cash requirements across international operations and coordinate funding with appropriate advice and approvals.
- Maintain a compliance calendar with advisers covering relevant tax, VAT and sales-tax obligations.
- Ensure freight, duties and other import costs are accurately reflected in landed costs.
Cash flow and working capital
- Maintain a rolling 13-week cash-flow forecast alongside longer-term budgets and forecasts.
- Provide visibility over stock purchasing commitments, supplier payments and operating expenditure.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash conversion and reduce unnecessary working-capital requirements.
- Support negotiations on supplier payment terms and monitor their financial impact.
- Give the founder early visibility of cash pressures, risks and upcoming decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
