FINANCIAL LEAD (UK)

Location – Weybridge, Surrey | Hybrid

Our client is a global leader in offshore energy construction and installation, with an established international presence and ambitious plans for continued growth across the UK and Europe.

As their UK business continues to expand, they are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Lead to take ownership of the UK & European finance function.

This is far more than a reporting role!

Reporting directly to the UK & European Managing Director, you will become a key member of the UK leadership team, providing the financial insight, challenge and control needed to support business growth and informed decision-making.

You will also work closely with the finance team at our client's US head offices, giving you valuable international exposure and the opportunity to operate within a global organisation.

The Role

As Financial Lead, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management and reporting of the UK/EU business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis

    • Own the UK/EU annual finance budget in partnership with the MD and Senior Leadership team
    • Produce accurate and insightful monthly financial reporting
    • Analyse performance against budget and forecasts, identifying key trends and variances
    • Lead monthly reforecasting and update financial expectations as the business develops
    • Provide commercial financial analysis and insight to support management decisions
    • Support annual business planning and financial strategy
    • Ensure UK reporting aligns with group requirements
  • UK Finance Operations

    • Oversee UK banking, cash balances, payments and receipts
    • Support UK VAT reporting and compliance
    • Work with external accountants and tax advisers
    • Oversee AP and AR activities and ensure effective financial controls
    • Maintain accurate and complete financial records
    • Ensure reporting and financial deadlines are consistently achieved
  • International & Commercial Stakeholder Management

    • Become the primary finance interface between the UK business and Houston
    • Provide timely and accurate financial information to the US finance team
    • Build strong relationships with UK operational, commercial and project teams
    • Work closely with Project Controls and project delivery colleagues
    • Translate financial information into clear, commercially meaningful insight for non-finance stakeholders

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong financial capability with a hands-on, commercial mindset.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience as a Finance Manager, Finance Lead, Senior Management Accountant or similar
  • Strong experience across budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
  • A solid understanding of UK accounting practices and VAT
  • Experience with cash-flow management and banking
  • Strong Excel and accounting/ERP systems experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The confidence to communicate financial information to senior, non-finance stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisation
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently in a growing business
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification is desirable, although strong qualified-by-experience candidates will absolutely be considered.
  • Experience within offshore energy, renewable energy, engineering, construction, marine, infrastructure or another project-based environment would be highly advantageous.
