Finance Manager

£40,000 – £45,000 | Heywood

Are you an experienced Finance Manager who enjoys being hands-on and having real ownership of the finance function?

We’re working with a rapidly growing e-commerce business in Heywood to recruit a standalone Finance Manager to manage the full finance operation and support the business as it continues to scale.

This is a hands-on role, working closely with the directors, external suppliers, accountants and finance contacts within the company’s investment partner.

The role

You’ll take responsibility for:

  • Managing purchase and sales ledger, invoicing, payments, banking and reconciliations.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reporting, budgets and forecasts.
  • Managing cash flow, credit control, supplier payments and financial controls.
  • Overseeing VAT, HMRC, payroll, pensions and year-end processes, working with external accountants where required.
  • Reconciling e-commerce sales, payment platforms, refunds and fees, alongside stock and inventory accounting.
  • Providing financial insight and analysis to support commercial decisions.
  • Liaising with external finance providers, suppliers, accountants and the investment partner’s finance team.
  • Improving processes and systems to make the finance function more efficient and scalable.
  • Exploring AI, automation and other technology to reduce manual administration and streamline routine tasks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
