Head of Management Accounting

Surrey | Hybrid Working (3 Days in Office) £90,000 + Bonus

A highly successful, private equity-backed organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Management Accounting to lead a critical finance function during an exciting phase of growth and transformation. Reporting directly to the senior finance leadership team, this role offers the opportunity to lead an established management accounting team while partnering with key stakeholders across the business to enhance reporting, controls, processes, and commercial insight.

The Opportunity

This is a senior finance leadership role responsible for driving best practice across management accounting, delivering high-quality financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the finance function, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring robust financial governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and mentor a management accounting team, promoting a high-performance culture
  • Own and coordinate the monthly management reporting cycle
  • Ensure the timely and accurate production of management accounts and board reporting
  • Provide detailed financial analysis, variance reporting and insightful commentary to senior stakeholders
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany accounting processes
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, automation and reporting enhancements
  • Partner with operational and functional leaders to improve financial visibility and cost management
  • Support systems implementations and finance transformation projects
  • Maintain robust financial controls, governance and compliance frameworks

Candidate Profile

We are looking to speak with qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) who can demonstrate:

  • Significant post-qualified experience within management accounting and financial reporting
  • Previous experience leading and developing finance teams
  • Strong month-end and management reporting expertise
  • Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering capabilities
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience improving financial controls, processes and reporting frameworks
  • Exposure to ERP and financial systems, with experience of reporting and planning tools considered advantageous

Package

  • Salary: £90,000
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Hybrid working model (typically three days in the office)
  • Surrey location with excellent access from Reading, Woking, Guildford and surrounding areas
  • Minimal travel requirements
