This individual will be a trusted partner to the leadership team, providing robust financial control while also driving commercial performance, strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, automation, and business growth.
The successful candidate will be a self-sufficient, proactive, and commercially minded finance professional who can identify opportunities, solve problems, challenge assumptions, and generate ideas that improve both profitability and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead all core finance operations for selected entities, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial controls, audit support, and statutory compliance
- Act as a strategic business partner to the leadership team, providing financial insight, commercial analysis, and decision support across the organisation
- Identify, evaluate, and implement cost-saving initiatives across departments, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and improved operating margins
- Proactively analyse revenue drivers, customer profitability, and business performance to identify opportunities for revenue growth and improved profitability
- Build and maintain financial models, business cases, scenario planning, and investment analyses to support strategic initiatives and key business decisions
- Drive process improvement and automation projects, leveraging AI and modern finance technologies to reduce manual effort, improve reporting quality, and increase team productivity
- Develop KPI dashboards and performance reporting frameworks that provide actionable insights to management and support data-driven decision-making

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
