Reporting to: CEO, Deputy CEO & Chief Finance Officer, and Head of Finance

Key Contacts: CEO, Deputy CEO & Chief Finance Officer, Head of Finance, Senior Leaders, MAT Trustees, Academy Heads, MAT Business Managers.

Salary: Grade 9 (Scale Point 23-26)

Work Time: 37 hours per week, term time only + 10 days OR all year round.

Base: MAT HQ, Skelmanthorpe Academy Nursery Building, Elm Street, Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield, HD8 9DZ

Start Date: ASAP


This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to play a key role within the Learning Accord Multi Academy Trust covering Kirklees and Calderdale. The Trust currently has 19 schools and is expanding.

Purpose of the Role

The Finance Manager will support the effective operation of the Trust's finance function, ensuring high standards of financial management, compliance and service delivery across all Trust schools.

The CEO and DCEO/CFO are seeking to appoint a committed, organised and enthusiastic Finance Manager to manage and implement the operational finance functions within this caring and welcoming academy community. They will support the DCEO/CFO and Head of Finance and manage the day-to-day financial support and operations that enable the MAT to operate effectively, efficiently and compliantly ensuring best value for money.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who Can

  • Manage the operations of the financial functions of our MAT.
  • Under the direction of the DCEO/CFO and Head of Finance, lead on financial matters to ensure the MAT’s successful financial performance and to ensure financial decisions are clearly linked to the MAT Business Plan.
  • Assist the DCEO/CFO and Head of Finance with statutory external and internal audit requirements.
  • Promote the highest professional standards of business ethos within the financial function.
  • Support and inspire the School Business Managers.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who

  • Have experience in financial management in either a school, college, public or private sector.
  • Are highly efficient and organised and always ensure attention to detail.
  • Have a good working knowledge of excel.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, thrive under pressure and embrace change.
  • Will thrive as working as part of a small team but with the ability to work under their own initiative.

As the role is based within an educational trust and provides services to schools, the successful candidate will be required to undergo all appropriate pre-employment checks. This includes evidence of a satisfactory safeguarding check, such as an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, in line with statutory safer recruitment requirements.
