Finance Manager

Egham – hybrid working available
£53,000–£58,000
Full-time, permanent – 35 hours per week
Closing date: Ongoing / ASAP

I’m working with a vibrant, values-led charity representing more than 9,000 students at a University of London institution. The organisation delivers a wide range of services, activities and support for its members, alongside running commercial operations including hospitality and events, with income reinvested back into student services.

They are now looking for a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) to join them as Finance Manager, taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and effective operation of the finance function. The role manages a team of around 3 and reports to the Head of Finance and Resources.

Based in Egham, with hybrid working available, this is a broad, hands-on role that would particularly suit an experienced all-round Finance Manager from an SME-sized business, charity or similarly varied organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The organisation has annual income and expenditure budgets of around £7m, so there’s plenty of breadth and variety to the finance operation.

Charity experience would be useful, but isn’t the only route into the role. It could equally suit someone coming from an SME-sized commercial organisation who enjoys being an all-rounder and is comfortable combining strong technical accounting with a practical, hands-on approach.

Applications are being considered on an ongoing basis, so early applications are encouraged.
