Neuromuscular Centre (NMC)
Neuromuscular Centre (NMC) is a charity dedicated to empowering people affected by neuromuscular conditions, including muscular dystrophy, to live healthy, fulfilling, and productive lives. Founded in 1990, NMC has grown into a unique community where specialist services are complemented by shared experience, mutual support, and a strong sense of belonging. The Centre offers free specialist physiotherapy not available through the NHS, a purpose-built neuromuscular gym, and accessible training in areas such as Graphic Design, IT, and Life Skills. NMC also supports career development, CV building, and employer engagement, and provides creative opportunities through its Makerspace for collaborative digital and physical projects. The organisation runs youth programmes, social events, and is home to NMC Design+Print, all focused on improving quality of life for its community.
Finance Manager
The Neuromuscular Centre (NMC), Winsford, Cheshire
Salary: £25k per annum plus benefits
Hours: Part-Time (22.5 hours per week)
Location: Winsford, Cheshire (with flexibility for some hybrid working)
Reporting to: Chief Executive

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to join our leadership team at an exciting stage in our development. This is a pivotal role, providing financial leadership, strengthening financial governance, and ensuring the organisation has the robust financial information needed to support growth and strategic decision-making.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees, and senior colleagues, you will play a key role in maintaining financial sustainability while supporting the delivery of life-changing services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day financial management of the organisation.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
- Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and financial reporting.
- Oversee purchase and sales ledger processes, banking, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with charity accounting requirements, VAT, and statutory obligations.
- Coordinate audit preparation and external reporting requirements.
- Support payroll administration and pension processes.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees.
- Maintain strong financial controls and continuously improve financial systems and processes.
- Support managers in understanding and managing their budgets.
About You
We are looking for someone who:

- Has substantial finance experience, ideally within the charity, healthcare, social care, or not-for-profit sector.
- Holds a recognised accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) or has significant relevant experience.
- Has experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Can communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.
- Is proactive, organised, and able to work independently.
- Shares our commitment to improving the lives of people living with neuromuscular conditions.
