Finance Manager | Up to £60,000

📍 West Bromwich Area | Permanent | Full-Time | Office-Based

Looking for a finance role where your input will be valued, your ideas welcomed, and your work will directly shape business performance? This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and established SME that continues to evolve and invest in its future. Working closely alongside the CFO, you'll take a leading role within the finance function, combining day-to-day financial management with the chance to contribute to wider business decisions and improvement projects.

The position offers plenty of variety, making it ideal for someone who enjoys staying close to the numbers while also influencing the bigger picture. You'll have the autonomy to make recommendations, improve processes, develop a small team, and support key strategic initiatives across the business.

For a commercially aware Finance Manager who enjoys being visible within an organisation and taking ownership of their work, this represents a long-term opportunity within a stable and supportive environment.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the finance function while providing accurate, meaningful financial information to support business growth and decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting packs.
  • Taking ownership of month-end and year-end reporting activities, ensuring deadlines are met and controls remain robust.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning, delivering analysis that helps drive business performance.
  • Working in partnership with the CFO and senior leadership team to provide financial insight and commercial support.
  • Leading and mentoring a small finance team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day finance operations.
  • Monitoring working capital, including debtors, creditors, and stock, helping identify opportunities to strengthen profitability and cash generation.
  • Coordinating annual audit requirements and supporting compliance across VAT, taxation, and statutory reporting.
  • Identifying efficiencies and implementing improvements across finance systems, reporting processes, and controls, including ongoing enhancement of Microsoft Dynamics.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
