Heirloom Fair Legal Finance (www.hflfinance.com) provides bespoke financing solutions to regulated professional services, including law firms and insolvency practitioners. Using technology, data and highly efficient processes, we underwrite high-volume, lower-value collateral that traditional lenders often cannot serve economically. Backed by a family office, we benefit from a stable, long-term capital base rather than be beholden to fundraising cycles. Our team collectively has over 100 years of experience in legal services, specialty finance and investment management. As we continue to grow our lending platform and investment vehicles, we are seeking an exceptional, tech-forward finance professional to lead a best-in-class finance function.
Role Summary
This role combines strategic leadership and hands-on execution. Supported by a Bookkeeper, you will own the finance function across two UK operating companies, a US holding company and Cayman/Luxembourg investment entities, delivering monthly statutory accounts, business unit reporting, budgeting, treasury, cash flow forecasting and statutory compliance, while partnering closely with the investment team on portfolio reporting, new transactions and strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys using technology to build a scalable finance infrastructure in a high-growth specialty private credit business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
