Role: Finance Manager (sole role)

Sector: Luxury Retail

Permanent: In the office every day through Probation and then negotiable

Location: Southwark

Salary: £50,000 - £58,000

Reporting to: Managing Director

Ref: VFR3313

VisionFR is excited to be recruiting on behalf of an ambitious, fast-growing luxury creative-services business. This is an opportunity for the Finance Manager to grow with the company. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the finances quickly and put procedures in place for prompt invoicing, accurate records, reporting, and deadlines being met.

Key Responsibilities of the sole role Finance Manager:

  • Own the day-to-day finance operation, maintaining accurate, complete, and well-organised accounting records in Xero
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice approval, customer billing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, and credit notes
  • Lead credit control, resolving queries quickly, and maintaining clear visibility of overdue balances and collection commitments
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payment platforms, and control accounts accurately and on time
  • Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, deferred income, and balance-sheet reconciliations, taking increasing ownership of a timely month-end close
  • Produce clear monthly management information covering profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, and departmental or operational analysis
  • Explain performance in plain English, highlighting material movements, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions
  • Maintain cash-flow forecasts and support budgets, reforecasts, and business planning with robust, understood assumptions
  • Improve visibility of revenue, gross margin, labour, overheads, and profitability across the business
  • Work with operational and commercial colleagues to strengthen job costing, purchasing discipline, pricing information, and budget control
  • Process and review expenses and company cards; support payroll inputs, pensions, and related reconciliations with the external provider
  • Prepare information for VAT returns, year-end accounts, corporation tax, and other statutory requirements with external accountants and advisers
  • Maintain an effective finance calendar and proportionate controls that protect cash, data, and assets without slowing the business unnecessarily
  • Improve systems, workflows, and reporting through sensible automation
  • Give non-finance colleagues simple guidance on purchase orders, approvals, invoices, expenses, and deadlines

Key skills and requirements of the sole role Finance Manager:

  • Strong practical experience of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, credit control, and general ledger accounting
  • Experience contributing to or owning month-end close, management accounts, and cash-flow forecasting
  • A sound understanding of accruals, prepayments, balance-sheet reconciliations, and the drivers of profit and loss
  • Confident use of Xero and strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent accuracy, organisation, and follow-through, with the judgement to recognise what is genuinely material
  • Commercial curiosity and the ability to turn financial information into concise, useful explanations and recommendations
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, constructively challenging where needed while remaining approachable
  • Energy, pace, learning agility, and a collaborative, hands-on willingness to work at every level
  • A relevant accounting qualification, or active progress towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA, would be valuable; candidates qualified by experience will also be considered
  • The legal right to work in the UK
