Many finance managers find their technical expertise eroding over time. Status updates, coordination meetings, and administrative overhead crowd out the core accounting work that once defined their careers. This position reverses that trend.
In this role, you will oversee global finance operations by leading a team of Senior Accountants while maintaining sufficient proximity to the actual work to assess its quality and accuracy. You will review invoices, payment processing, reconciliations, allocations, and related finance deliverables; identify the underlying accounting or procedural breakdowns that cause errors; and create detailed written feedback that ensures these issues do not recur. When urgent deadlines or complex finance challenges arise, you will retain the capability to execute the work directly.
Trilogy's Central Finance team functions distinctly from conventional accounting departments. We automate repetitive coordination and systematically pursue opportunities for AI and automation to remove manual effort, allowing finance professionals to concentrate on judgment, accuracy, and continuous improvement. You will gain exposure to intricate global finance operations while preserving the technical competence that many managers lose through career progression. If you seek management accountability without transitioning into full-time meeting coordination, this role transforms your accounting knowledge into organizational impact.
What You Will Be Doing
- Oversee daily finance operations by directing Senior Accountants, continually reprioritizing assignments according to deadlines, business significance, interdependencies, and financial exposure.
- Review finance dashboards and completed deliverables to verify that bills, invoices, payments, bank transactions, reconciliations, control accounts, revenue, and expenditure allocations are precise and up to date.
- Analyze quality breakdowns by applying your accounting knowledge to determine whether errors stem from incorrect data, system configuration issues, improper accounting treatment, or flawed process execution.
- Create evidence-driven coaching documentation that clarifies the error, outlines corrective steps, and establishes preventive measures.
- Recognize opportunities to deploy AI, LLMs, and automation for eliminating manual tasks and enhancing both speed and precision in finance operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
