Chalk Hill Group is working exclusively with an established SME service-provider, based on the outskirts of Southampton, to recruit a Temporary Finance Manager for an initial 3–6-month period.

This is a hands-on role within an SME environment, suited to an experienced finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function and getting involved across a broad range of responsibilities. This role will be on a day rate basis, inside IR35.

The Role:
Reporting into the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the smooth running of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial information and effective financial controls are maintained.

  • Managing the day-to-day finance function and overseeing transactional finance activities
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Cashflow management, forecasting and monitoring
  • Managing purchase and sales ledgers, including credit control and supplier payments
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensuring robust financial controls and processes are maintained
  • Using Sage to maintain accurate financial records, process transactions and produce financial information and reports
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting
  • Providing general support and guidance to the wider business on financial matters

About You:
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar who is comfortable working in an SME environment and able to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Strong experience across both transactional and management accounting
  • Experience producing management accounts and financial reports
  • Good hands-on experience using Sage
  • Good knowledge of reconciliations, cashflow and financial controls
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
  • Previous experience within an SME environment
