Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment is delighted to support a major Scottish organisation with the appointment of a Finance Manager to join a high-performing finance team in Dundee during an exciting period of strategic transformation.

This is an opportunity to work alongside senior operational leaders, influence key decisions and lead financial planning across a significant service portfolio. You will play a central role in improving performance, delivering value and supporting long-term organisational objectives. With responsibility for budgets exceeding £160mill and exposure to senior leadership teams, this job role offers the chance to make a visible impact while developing your career within a complex and highly respected organisation.

The Opportunity

You'll operate as a trusted finance business partner, supporting senior stakeholders across multiple services and locations and manage a team of 4 within a larger finance team. You'll have strong peer support and also a highly visible role interacting with senior finance leadership. This is a varied role and you'll be involved in:

  • Leading the annual budgeting process across a diverse range of services, ensuring financial plans align with organisational objectives.
  • Producing robust forecasts and financial plans, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting leaders to make informed decisions.
  • Providing detailed monthly management accounts, performance analysis and commentary to senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development of business cases, investment appraisals and service improvement initiatives, helping determine where resources can deliver the greatest impact.
  • Challenging and supporting budget holders to improve financial performance, deliver efficiencies and achieve savings targets.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to operational leaders, translating complex financial information into practical recommendations.
  • Leading financial modelling and scenario planning exercises to support strategic decision-making and organisational change.
  • Reviewing and strengthening financial controls, governance processes and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Supporting year-end processes and statutory reporting requirements, working closely with internal and external audit teams.
  • Developing high-quality management information and reporting tools to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Leading, coaching and developing a small finance team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Building strong relationships across finance, operational and executive leadership teams, becoming a key contributor to strategic discussions.

The Candidate

You will be a professionally qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, ICAEW, CIPFA) with significant post-qualifying experience in a sizeable and complex organisation. You'll have strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting expertise and experience leading or developing finance teams. You will have excellent communication and stakeholders management skills and the confidence to challenge senior decision makers constructively.

You'll have strong Excel skills and financial modelling capability as well as an ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insight.
